Volunteer Board Member

RACR is seeking to enhance the diverse representation of our Board. The successful applicant will be passionate and committed, with an interest in gaining experience on a not-for-profit community organisation Board.  RACR have two current vacancies:

  • youth and young adult representative – individual aged between 18-30; and
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representative.

About Relationships Australia Canberra & Region

Relationships Australia Canberra & Region (RACR) is a member of the Relationships Australia federation of eight state and territory organisations. We are an independent, not-for-profit organisation with a proud and rich history.

RACR is dedicated to supporting all people in Australia to maintain safe and respectful relationships: with themselves, their families and their broader communities. In the 2020-21 financial year RACR supported 12,808 clients across our nine locations throughout Canberra and surrounds; the NSW Riverina; and the South Coast of NSW.  RACR’s services are available to all regardless of income, age, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, gender, and cultural background.

The Role

The RACR Board is the body that is ultimately responsible for the wellbeing of the organisation and the success of it’s service provision and influence in the community. The Board is established through RACR’s Constitution.

The RACR Board exercises it’s responsibilities through a consultative and participative approach to governance. The Board actively consults with managers, staff and community stakeholders to reach strategic decisions regarding RACR’s future direction.

This opportunity is open to any individual aged between 18 – 30 and/or individuals who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Applicants must be based in Canberra or surrounds, the NSW Riverina or the NSW South Coast. Previous Board experience is not required.

We ask our Board to attend eight meetings per year and to make a small yearly donation of $15 as a membership fee.
