Services for older Australians experiencing abuse

Relationships Australia Canberra and Region has a new service for older Australians who are experiencing coercion or abuse in their lives.

The Senior Relationship Service assists older Australians and their families to have difficult conversations, to support them in a way that keeps the family functioning but stops behaviour that is harmful to the older family member.

We have a range of services that include supported family meetings, counselling, case coordination and outreach that can help families meet the needs of their older members.

Abuse and coercion can be physical, sexual, emotional and/or financial, and can include neglect.

Any family member can seek our assistance if there is concern about the wellbeing of an older family member.

The aim of the service is to support families through difficult times with a view to improved long-term family functioning including improving the safety and wellbeing of the family's older members.
